Coolant Flush
Time and mileage alone are not the best indicator of fluid depletion or the breakdown of additive packages and sludge build up. Many variables related to how the vehicle is driven and the environment can affect fluids, so it must be scientifically analyzed to accurately know the fluid condition.
Coolant flush explanation:
Coolant which is also sometimes referred to as antifreeze protects your engine from overheating and freezing. Coolant is circulated throughout the engine compartment through a network of components including: the radiator, thermostat, hoses and pipes, water pump, heater core, transmission cooler and sometimes additional components depending on the engine design.
Every manufacturer has a specified coolant type, but most coolants are composed of a 50/50 mix of ethylene glycol and water or a mixture of propylene glycol and water. In addition, there are special formulations of corrosion inhibitors, antifoams, dyes and other additives depending on the manufacture’s requirements.
Overtime, coolant can become contaminated or past its useful life for a variety of reasons including: improper mixing of coolant to water ratio, glycol degradation, outside contaminants, breaking down of rubber hoses internally, rust development in system components, combustion gas blow-by entering the system or oil entering the system. Coolant with a bad PH or high water content can cause leaking seals and hoses, internal boiling or overheating of the engine, frozen or cracked engine block, cavitation or pitting in metal system components and mating surfaces, loss of heat transfer.
Coolant PH and water content is scientifically tested at every complimentary inspection when your vehicle is performing our coolant flush service on your vehicle. If the coolant is heavily contaminated or has been severely neglected, it may require multiple flushes to restore the fluid and remove as much of the contaminants as possible.
The features of Repair Revolution’s coolant flush service:
Repair Revolution’s coolant service involves scientifically testing the fluid for PH levels and water content. A flush chemical is used to clean system and safely remove rust, scale and sludge. Old coolant is removed. New coolant is installed along with Supreme Coolant Treatment which is chemically engineered to reduce the surface tension of coolant, thus allowing it to more deeply penetrate metal surfaces at vital heat-transfer areas.
After the new coolant is installed we will road test the vehicle to cooling performance and re-test the fluid to ensure it has been restored to optimal performance. In some cases, if the fluid is severely contaminated, the fluid flush may have to be performed again if it fails an analysis test after the initial service.
The benefits of Repair Revolution’s coolant flush service:
Performing regular coolant fluid services, extends the life of hoses, water pumps, heater cores, thermostats, radiators and significantly reduces the possibility of engine overheating. The system additive used is very effective in preventing damage from electrolysis, corrosion, and pitting in the cooling system. New coolant also reduces operating temperatures of the cooling system, automatic transmission and A/C. This benefit is enhanced by the additive used in this service which further decreases operating temperatures. Engine performance is improved when it is operating at lower temperatures.
